Picture this.
It's late at night, you're just about to settle down for the night, thinking of all that you will accomplish tomorrow, when you get a ping on your computer. "What's that," you ask puzzled at the strange noise you just heard. You fiddle with your computer mouse, screen flaring up and dilating your pupils for an blindingly, awkward five seconds. As your eyes begin to focus, you start to see a link sent from your IM. Now at first you shrug it off, after all this is the same dude that sent you that double rainbow video and a video of japanese girls puking into a bucket. Reluctantly, you click through expecting to see some mundane nut shot video, or another pointless remix. Instead you get this.
Are you not laughing? Then you are not human.
The following is a collection of all things I think are worth sharing. These include, but are not limited to, movies, TV, websites, viral videos, podcasts, music, events, downloads, and anything else worthy of being shared. I hope you enjoy, I know I do.

Even YouTube Stars Sell Out
I'm not gonna complain too much here, simply because, if I made a kick-ass viral video, and McDonalds asked me to create another one, starring me and my buddy, and they were going to pay me a with a boatload of McNuggets, well I would say yes.
That being said, there's something to be said for advertising that is based around cool shit found on the web. Take that boss! I am doing research by watching hundreds of adorable videos of kitties with socks on their head.
What I love about the times we live in, is how you can become a sensation overnight. All it takes is a bit of Yankee ingenuity and a digital video camera. Need more proof? Ask a little South African friend of Peter Jackson, Neil Blomkamp, who made the awesome movie District 9 based off a short found online.
Oh yeah and that movie Tron that's coming out and going to smash all sorts of records? Yeah that started out as a proof of concept video that debuted, where else but YouTube.
Let's hope the same strategy works for this.

Looks like I'll still be a nerd in 2011
E3 was this week and everyday just keeps getting better for me. Nintendo's roster alone is full of retro re-do's of some classic games from my generation designed to give those of us a full on 8-bit boner. Plus a whole new Zelda game, a dark take on Mickey Mouse, a sequel to Dead Space, a tease at a new Twisted Metal Game. Whew. I could go on, or I could just show you the money shots.
Dead Space 2
Twisted Metal
Epic Mickey
Zelda: Skyward Sword
Donkey Kong Country Returns

Mutant Rape Baby
One of the most frustrating things about being a writer working for a very large, very corporate company is trying to write within the standards of certain brand restrictions. My job is something that I am very thankful to have, but also causes me so much pain and anguish daily that it’s turning my thinning hair grey.
Let’s take a look a look at one of my weekly if not daily heartache’s:
I am given a lackluster assignment (my junior status doesn’t necessarily help this cause)that no one wants, but I am thrilled to get.

I see maybe just the tiniest bit of wiggle room to try to be funny, smart, clever and get very, very excited. I spend the rest of the day creating and massaging it into existence.

I present my work to a room full of people who could truly care less about such a lowly assignment. I get vague feedback and when I try to clarify, I am more confused than ever.

I continue, polishing and preparing.
I present again to a smaller creative team who takes out their red pens of fury and proceed to murder and mutilate my baby.
My work is then touched, raped and changed by dozens of dirty, account, lead, and production hands.

We present a monster.

It’s approved, but the client wants to rape it a bit more.
I meanwhile sit quietly, holding back tears as I watch my once beautiful baby be defiled knowing there is nothing I can do about it.

The rape/mutant/baby goes live and sells tons of product

But hey, this is the career path I started and I’m not turning back. Plus I have a lot of debt thanks to ad school.
